We are now over halfway through the skillsharing work in Newport S Wales, with staff plucking up courage to lead half a session each so far. We’ve devised a super story involving jungle animals so the children can use instruments to make the sounds and bring the story alive! Apart from the group, staff have been using shorter therapeutic music sessions to enrich the time spent at the Respite Centre for other children. They report great success, and are having fun themselves exploring the instruments. A newly resourced sensory room there also provides a chance for a different environment in which some of the instruments can be used to support activities there. I also heard some exciting talk about a Christmas Musical Sharing for Families – hope I am invited!!
