Consultancy

Not everyone wants or needs a formal partnership with MasT International. There have been many occasions where individuals or organisations have asked for assistance with a specific aspect of an music therapy project being developed overseas. In such cases – as long as the activity sits comfortably within our mission and values – we are always pleased to offer consultancy. There is a charge for this.

India

We recently worked with The Music Therapy Trust (India) which is developing an Introduction to Music Therapy course for students at the Indira Gandhi National Open University in Delhi. This course aims to raise awareness of music therapy as a form of clinical intervention and to promote the way in which it is developing as a new field of practice in India. The Music Therapy Trust (India) is a registered charity in India, with affiliation to the Otakar Kraus Music Trust in London, which was founded by British music therapist Margaret Lobo. Myanmar

Alexia has been providing consultancy to an Israeli Music Therapist, Tsvia Horesh, who is developing an exciting training course she will be taking to Myanmar in south east Asia, in Spring 2012.  Tsvia was approached by the Eden Center for Disabled Children in Yangon, Myanmar and was  asked to develop a course that would equip local teachers and para-medical therapists with some insight into the therapeutic role of music-making for children with disabilities.  18 staff members from 6 special education schools from Yangon will participate in the  2 1/2 week course , aimed at  leaving them with some skills, techniques and activities they will be able to develop themselves. A follow up meeting with the participants is already being planned for September 2012.  We will be very interested to see the impact of Tsvia’s initial training course and would be open to working together again, should her work in Myanmar develop in the future.
