Recruitment

As the deadline for Project Rwanda has now passed Music as Therapy International is not currently recruiting for any volunteers. In late August 2010, we will be sending a team of two, comprising a Music Therapist and an ‘Assistant’ to share their skills with local staff working in a residential home and a day centre in the Rusizi district of Rwanda. The Project will run for just over six weeks, at the end of which staff will be equipped with the necessary materials, skills and experience to run a sustainable music programme for the children in their care. If you are interested in being on our mailing list for future volunteering opportunities please email janerobbie@musicastherapy.org. To follow the progress of Project Rwanda keep an eye on the webpage here or updates in our News section.

Our projects are always led by professional Music Therapists and normally supported by an 'Assistant'. This is usually someone who has not yet undertaken music therapy training, but has relevant experience and is interested to learn more about music therapy alongside our Local Partners. For insight into what it is like to volunteer, take a look at the relevant albums in our Gallery.

"Thank you for all your support throughout Project Bethlehem 2009 and for the opportunity you gave us in the first place. We have had a truly fascinating experience and can’t wait to see how the Project develops."
(Liz Coombes and Hannah McCabe, Music Therapist and Assistant, Project Bethlehem 2009)

We also produce an information pack on Music Therapy as a Career. This pack offers information on all the Postgraduate music therapy training courses in the UK, case studies from people who have recently trained as a music therapist, links to other resources, as well as some information on the history of music therapy. A small fee of £5 is charged to cover our costs. To order a pack or find out more please email cleojordan@musicastherapy.org.
