  • Distance learning programme: Romania 2017

    Romania

    Our 7th delivery of this Distance Learning course, much aided by the work of our Local Moderator Monika Szabo. The course comprises a series of 7 monthly tutorials and written assignments, participation in an Intensive Study Weekend – hosted by the University of Bucharest – and a supervised Practical Assignment.

  • On-site skill-sharing: Guild Care (Worthing) 2017

    United Kingdom

    A 6-week project providing training to staff delivering two strands of service within Guildcare in Worthing, to introduce music into the care and activities offered to to elderly people and people living with dementia. The music therapist who delivered this project, Hazel Child, was shortlisted for an Advancing Healthcare Award in the category “Realising potential through Creativity”.

  • On-site skill-sharing: Abbeyfield (Ballachulish) 2017

    A 6-week project providing training to staff at Abbeyfield Care Home (Ballachulish) to introduce music into the care and activities they were providing for elderly people and people living with dementia up in the highlands of Scotland.

  • On-site skill-sharing: James Wolfe School (London) 2017

    United Kingdom

    A 6-week project providing training to two early years teachers at James Wolfe School in Greenwich, delivered in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, to introduce music to the care and development opportunities of the young children at the school.

  • Structured training: Interactive Music-Making (London) 2017

    United Kingdom

    The 6th delivery of our Interactive Music-Making structured training for early years practitioners in London. Hosted by Clyde Early Childhood Centre and delivered in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, the course comprised a series of 12 weekly seminars and a practical assignment, evidencing their practice with a Practice Portfolios and a live presentation. This year saw the introduction of our IMM Award Scheme to support the participation of early years practitioners from settings under signficant financial strain.

  • Distance learning programme: OPT 2016

    Occupied Palestinian Territories

    The second delivery of this training course, delivered via our Distance Learning Model, run in partnership with Musicians Without Borders. The course comprises a series of 7 monthly tutorials and written assignments, participation in an Intensive Study Weekend – hosted by Sounds of Palestine – and a supervised Practical Assignment, al of which equip participating activity leaders and social workers to use music in their work with children in the region.

  • On-site skill-sharing: Oaklands Children’s Centre (Newport) 2016

    A 6-week project provided training to two staff members working at Oaklands Children’s Centre, a drop-in service for children with complex needs and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), near Newport, Wales.

    A 6-week field project providing training to a group of early years practitioners at Waterway’s Children’s Centre (Greenwich), delivered in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. The project introduced music into the care and development opportunities of the young children accessing the centre.
