Following a period of modernisation, we’re excited to open the course to a new group of practitioners  this year.

Led by Georgian music therapist Tako Jordania, the 12-month programme is designed for practitioners who work directly and regularly with children under the age of 10 who have learning or social difficulties.

Our new, purpose-built online learning platform is designed to guide learners through the course and help them keep track of progress from start to finish.

Through a combination of online tutorials, written assignments, a face-to-face Intensive Study Weekend and a supervised practical assignment, participants will develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to create their own therapeutic music programmes.

The course is designed to bring learning into practice, exploring not only what music can offer children, but how caregivers and practitioners can use music purposefully to support communication, connection, participation and development.

And we’re delighted that last year’s participants have already seen the value of this approach:

The course fully met my expectations. The knowledge and experience I gained helped me grow significantly, both professionally and personally. The practical experience was particularly valuable, throughout the practice, I was able to build trusting relationships with the children and see for myself how music supported their communication, emotional well-being, social engagement, and development of self-confidence. All of this further strengthened my belief that music therapy is the right professional path for me.

Applications open on 14 August 2026.

If you are a practitioner in Georgia working directly and regularly with children under 10 with learning or social difficulties, we would love to hear from you.
