We are delighted to welcome this year’s cohort for the “Music as Therapy for Children with Disabilities” course. This year marks the 16th edition of the programme, which continues to be delivered by Music as Therapy International in close collaboration with our Romanian partners, “Sound Art E-Motion” and CoMusica. It is important to acknowledge that this course is accredited with 50 credits from COPSI (College of Psychologists).
We are pleased to say that this year’s participants come from all parts of Romania, bringing together a diverse community and representing a wide range of professional backgrounds.
The 2026 participants met with the course moderators on Zoom last Thursday for their initial meeting.
Here is Larisa’s summary:
Meeting the students at the start of the course was an excellent opportunity to get to know one another, to share about our own professional background, and to learn about the participants’ expectations regarding this Learning Programme.
Monika Manases (Moderator) and Larisa Neculai (Coordinator) presented an overview of the course structure and provided useful advice on Tutorials and Written Assignments, assuring the students of the ongoing support they will receive throughout the coming months.
The Music as Therapy International team would like to wish all students the best of luck and hope they will have a valuable learning experience.

Our Distance Learning Programme consists of a Theoretical and a Practical Component. During the first 8 months, participants read monthly Online Tutorials and prepare Written Assignments, a process that enables them to deepen their understanding of the fundamental concepts of Music as Therapy.
In September, students meet face-to-face for an Intensive Study Training that facilitates the transition to the Practical Component, where participants apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired by leading 8 Music as Therapy sessions with a group of children with disabilities.
This was a complex and challenging course, and I’ve learnt so much from it!
