This summer we will be returning to the World Congress of Music Therapy, a forum where we can promote our activities, champion the work of our Partners in different countries and share our learning with music therapists who have the expertise to help us extend what we do among. It was at the World Congress in Japan, back in 2017, that Alexia (our Director), received the World Federation of Music Therapy Advocate of Music Therapy Award for major contributions to the promotion of music therapy in areas of the world where the profession is less established.
This year the Congress will be taking place in Bologna, Italy, and we have a several colleagues who will be presenting their work: Tako Jordania (Georgia), Monika Manases, Larisa Neculai and Eli Rosca (Romania), and Elsa Hariades (focusing on our Music Helps training for dementia caregivers in India and the UK).
The World Congress is an unparalleled opportunity to meet music therapists from around the world and I’m looking forward to meeting therapists with insight into the different countries where we work, particularly Kenya and South Africa where we still have so much to learn. It will also be a chance for Tako, Monika, Larisa, Eli, Elsa and I to meet as a group for the first time and I can’t wait to hear their presentations.
