The Training aims to facilitate the transition from the Theoretical Part to the Practical Part of the course. Since February, participants have been going through monthly Online Tutorials and have completed a series of Written Assignments designed to prepare them to put what they have learned into practice, from October onwards.

The Practical Part involves conducting eight group music sessions for children with disabilities. The sessions are carefully planned to ensure participants have all the necessary resources to carry out their practical work.

For me, the Intensive Study Training was the “key” to the doors I had to open in the eight music sessions.

The Intensive Study Training will be facilitated by Monika Manases, the course moderator (also representing the partnership with the Sound Art E-motion Association), Larisa Neculai, the course coordinator (Music as Therapy International), and Eleonora Roșca (representing the partnership with the CoMusica Association).

Ahead of the weekend, Larisa and Eleonora share a few thoughts:

The IST weekend is the key moment in the Distance Learning course when we weave theory together with practice. It’s the time when we experience those ‘aha’ moments, moments of awareness, as we try to put ourselves in the shoes of the people we work with and explore how we can use the benefits of music more effectively to support and encourage interaction, self-expression, the development of communication skills, and more.

Every year, I look forward to travelling to Romania for the Intensive Study Training. It’s always a great joy to reconnect with Monika and Eleonora. What I’m perhaps most looking forward to is meeting the students in person – after so many months supporting them online, from behind a laptop screen. It’s especially valuable to work together, face-to-face, to experiment, to sing, and to anticipate how the participants will be with the children in their groups in the coming months.

We’d like to wish all the participants and facilitators the very best, and hope this Intensive Study Training is a truly rewarding and inspiring experience!
