I’m so pleased to introduce the incredible team heading out to Mombasa this May to deliver our next onsite Tailored Training at Bombolulu School of Promise. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter in our work with extending our activities to Kenya, and I wanted to take a moment to share some insight into what we’ve been up to so far — and the team who’ll be bringing it to life.
Bombolulu School of Promise
Bombolulu School of Promise is committed to providing education to children from low-income households in Mombasa. This will be the first time working with members of staff at the school, and we are really inspired by their courage in exploring the role of music with the children in their care.
Behind the Scenes
As the Operations Officer at Music as Therapy International, I’ve had the privilege of coordinating this project — and it’s been a full team effort. From initial conversations to planning logistics, sourcing instruments, and putting together various resources, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes!
We’ve been working closely with the appointed team to ensure a smooth start to this project, which we hope will not only be meaningful for the staff and children during the training delivery but for the staffs’ continued use of music to have a positive long lasting impact after their initial training.
We’re also deeply grateful to everyone who’s supported our Instruments of Change appeal to date, helping us gather a new set of musical instruments we’ll be donating to the school as part of this activity.

Introducing the Kenya 2025 Onsite Delivery Team
We’re proud to have three brilliant individuals making up the onsite delivery team: Hazel (Overseer), Sarah (Music Therapist Trainer) and Katy (Assistant).
Hazel is a highly experienced music therapist, long-time collaborator of Music as Therapy International and is a part of our Advisory Panel. Hazel first worked with us in 2012 and has since supported our activities in Occupied Palestinian Territories, Romania, and the UK. Hazel’s extensive knowledge of our activities and commitment to nurturing lasting partnerships make her a key presence as she oversees the first week of delivery and supports the team throughout the six weeks.
Sarah is a music therapist and musician and brings a wealth of experience of doing music therapy-related work oversea. With a strong musical background and a passion for collaborative work, Sarah will lead the training, sharing therapeutic techniques and approaches that the school’s staff can adapt and use in their own settings. Sarah is particularly excited to be part of this journey alongside the school community.
Katy, who is currently undertaking her music therapy studies, joins the team to support Sarah during the training and to lead with administrative responsibilities whilst in Mombasa. This project aligns beautifully with Katy’s ambitions and we’re pleased to have her on board.
I’m thrilled to be part of the Kenya 2025 project and can’t wait to learn, connect, and help bring music therapy to Bombolulu. I feel so lucky to be on this journey!
