In 2024, graduates of Music Helps (UK), our online training for dementia caregivers, rated the course 4.6/5 stars.
Designed with a strong practical focus, the course supports participants to apply learning directly in practice, with potential immediate positive benefits for people living with dementia and those supporting them.
The strength of feedback from our course pilot clearly evidenced this immediate positive impact for those delivering and receiving dementia care, and 93% said they would use their learning from the course when caring for someone living with dementia.
But we were really interested to know to what extent this impact could extend over time. Up to a year after completing the course, were graduates still using music to support their dementia care practice? And if so, what was motivating them to continue?
To find out, we followed up with course graduates – representing professional caregivers, family carers, activity coordinators, heath practitioners, volunteers, musicians and more. We asked them if – and how – music still featured in their dementia care practice.
Thank you to everyone who took part. We are excited to share our Music Helps (UK) medium-term impact findings summarised below:
100% of graduates said they would still recommend Music Helps (UK).
