List of activities

Provision of a series of lectures across one week, introducing pyschology undergraduates at the Facultatea de Stiinte, Universitatea “Lucian Blaga” (Sibiu) to the clinical practice of music therapy.

In response to local request we returned to our partners at Centrul de Zi “Sf. Maria” (Cluj) to evaluate their use of music, continued since our original training in 1999, and to provide additional training to strengthen their use of music with children and adults with disabilities.

A 6-week training project provided to local staff caring for children at the Centru de Plasament ‘Sf. Spiridon’, Botosani. It was interesting to meet again some of the children we had met during our pilot project in Ionaseni here, having been transferred to this new setting as part of the nationwide reform of instutions.

A 6-week training project provided to local staff working with children and young people at the Complex de Servicii Sociale Comunitare, Beclean, outside Bistrita.

We returned to spend one week with our partners at Centrul Scolar de Educatie Incluziva Nr.1 (Oradea) and at the Centru Pilot pentru Persoane cu Handicap (Cighid) to support their continued use of music following our introductory training the previous year. Sharing successes, developing practice and troubleshooting.

We returned to our partners at the Fundatia de Sprijin Comunitar (Bacau) who had developed the ways they were using music and sharing their skills with other Romanian practitioners, since participating in our original training project in 1998. This visit was to provide supervision for team members in relation to their current practice, to provide additional training in response to requests from the team and to observe and offer feedback on the methods used by IMPART to share their music skills with other local staff.

We convened a local area network meeting for our partners to meet and share experiences of using music to benefit children with special needs in and around Constanta.

A 6-week training project provided to local staff working with children and young people with complex needs at the Centru Pilot pentru Persoane cu Handicap, Cighid.

A 6-week training project provided to teachers and educators at a special school in Oradea, since re-named Centrul Scolar de Educatie Incluziva Nr.1.
