Research and presenting
- The experience of creating a research design, using SPSS after many years and writing a presentation. It strengthened my confidence in myself as a specialist and in my ability to work together with my colleagues Eleonora and Larisa.
- The experience of presenting the paper itself, the pleasant feeling of having the colleagues from the Music as Therapy team there, supporting you, but also of seeing during the presentation that the slides are laid out, that the room is full, that they seem interested in what you are presenting, that in fact the emotions last until you start talking.
- The experience of trying to fit into the space and time.
Meeting people
- The experience of meeting colleagues and moderators from other countries, with Elsa and Tako in particular. Of knowing something relevant about their life context, about their students, about their experiences, about the songs they listen to, bringing a bit of their world home with you.
- The experience of listening to musical improvisations during breaks. It provided connection through music.
Choosing what to attend
- The experience of choosing from the vast variety of presentations and workshops and setting priorities, but also of being frustrated that you can’t get everywhere.
- The experience of deciding to stand because the room is full to listen to an interesting presentation (The role of improvisational music therapy for people affected by schizoaffective disorder).
What I learned
- The experience of listening to case studies and being (re)sensitized to the reception of possible changes at the unconscious level of the deep structure and their connection with the dynamics of manifestations at the level of the surface structure (Mechanism of change in creative arts therapies and music therapy). I liked this presentation the most!
- The experience of listening to something familiar, but now in the context of music therapy: the Winnicottian potential space, in which the client discovers or becomes in the safe, protective silence from which music can be born (a concept known to me in sandplay therapy) (The Winnicottian Potential Space in the Context of Music Therapy: An Epistemological Study), or to live the experience of transference and countertransference embedded in the context of music therapy (the workshop Transference and Countertransference).
- The experience of listening to the effect of intervision, which I have thought about a lot and which convinces me that it is worth doing for our course graduates as well (Supporting to Support: Intervision, Wellbeing and Care in Music Therapy Work).
- The experience of becoming more confident in what you have worked on so far in the field of language disorders, listening to presentations that used almost the same approaches and confirmed that it is worth it (Speech Language Problems with Children with Cerebral Palsy, Multisituational Music Therapy in Treatment of a Child with Selective Mutism).
- The experience of seeing things in a broader interdisciplinary context (Music Therapy and Acoustemology).
- The experience of listening to the results of scientific research on topics related to my field of interest, research based on inferential statistics (Music Therapy for Adolescents with Emotional Difficulties, Music Therapy for Emotion Regulation: Activity or Treatment?, and others).
The congress itself
The experience of being part of a congress where the organizers were nice, prompt, attentive to our needs in a clean, easily accessible space, well chosen for this event. I liked the app, it made the administrative work much easier.
