Last month, our Local Trainers in Rwanda delivered their third and final series of Locally-Led Training events. This third series equipped all 14 anticipated participating staff from 7 centres with the skills and resources to create the opportunity for 653 children and young people to access music sessions at the participating centres.

The training was met with an overwhelmingly positive response as all participants enjoyed the experience and said that they learnt various new skills and techniques from the training. Participants shared that they were able to understand the use of music as therapy and how to structure music sessions that would benefit children living with disabilities.

We thank you for the training. We thank you for your commitment to help our children especially children living with disability.

Participant feedback

In fact, 100% of participants recommended the training to others and 86% of participants rated the course ‘excellent’.

One participant appreciated that everyone was made to feel comfortable during the training, and some participants shared that every person was given the freedom to ask any questions.

All topics will help me because they used to complement each other.

The ability to provide training was exciting.

Local Trainer feedback

Trainers also shared that Music as Therapy International took the time to listen to what they wanted, provided them with what they needed and allowed the trainers to make decisions when planning and preparing for their final series of training events.

The team at Music as Therapy International are incredibly proud of the hard work and efforts of our Local Trainers in sharing their music skills across Rwanda – Keep an eye out for when we share the immense impact from all three training series combined!
