  • Conference Participation: World Congress of Music Therapy (Canada) 2023

    Instead of attending the World Congress of Music Therapy in person as we have done before, in 2023 we have four electronic Posters appearing at the congress. Three of the ePosters are focused on the use of music in some of the countries where we are active and are co-created with Partners from Georgia, India and Rwanda, and some of our Advisory Panel members. The fourth ePoster is focused on our international Partner survey report published in 2021.

  • TEDx Frensham (Surrey) 2022

    Alexia Quin presented at the TEDx event in Frensham, Surrey to discuss how the work of Music as Therapy International relates to the topic ‘Human Together: Celebrating our Kaleidoscope’ and the diversity of humanity.

  • Conference participation: Music Therapy in Dementia Care – Broadening music therapy approaches 2018

    We shared in the delivery of a conference hosted by Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) and funded by the Utley Fundation, alongside fellow Dementia and Music Commissioners from Anglia Ruskin University, Methodist Homes for the Aged, Playlist for Life and Music for Dementia 2020.

  • Commission for Music & Dementia 2017

    Our Director was a commissioner working with the Utley Foundation and ILC-UK to explore the existing use of music in dementia care, and collating the wide-ranging evidence for its benefits, including using music to tackle anxiety, depression and stress in people living with dementia.

    We attended the World Congress of Music Therapy in Japan where Alexia Quin presented a paper exploring how music therapists who have led international skill-sharing projects have been inspired to undertake a series of pilot projects in the UK, supporting and enhancing care practice for young children, adults with learning disabilities and people living with dementia.

  • Conference Participation: Music Therapy and Dementia Care in the 21st Century 2015

    We attended a conference held by Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Our contribution was a roundtable alongside people from other organisations, where we considered together “What is the relevance of skill-sharing to music therapists working in the field of dementia care?”

  • Conference Participation: Counterpoints: Music Therapy Practice in the 21st Century 2014

    Our Director, Alexia Quin, was invited to give one of the key note presentations at this year’s British Association for Music Therapy conference, held in Birmingham. Her paper was entitled “Embedding Innovation into the Counterpoint of Music Therapy Practice Today” and was subsequently published in the British Journal of Music Therapy.
