    We returned to visit our Local Partners at Public School #198, Public School #200 and the Parents Bridge Centre (Tbilisi) to observe practice, evaluate skills and offer on-site support and additional training, as well as to discuss the development of the new Music Therapy Centre in Tbilisi.

  • Conference participation: Re-Visioning our Voice: Resourcing music therapy 2018 for contemporary needs

    We attended the British Association for Music Therapy conference in London, chairing a Roundtable presentation with 5 Advisory Panel music therapists who shared their experiences of delivering introductory training projects in the UK using our sill-sharing approach, with a focus on lessons learned and inviting discussion among other UK music therapists sharing their skills independently.

  • Conference participation: Music Therapy in Dementia Care – Broadening music therapy approaches 2018

    We shared in the delivery of a conference hosted by Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge) and funded by the Utley Fundation, alongside fellow Dementia and Music Commissioners from Anglia Ruskin University, Methodist Homes for the Aged, Playlist for Life and Music for Dementia 2020.

    A 6-week on-site skill-sharing project providing training to caregivers working in 3 care settings in and around Addis Ababa: Hospice Ethiopia, FENAID and Gefersa Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre.

  • Commission for Music & Dementia 2017

    United Kingdom

    Our Director was a commissioner working with the Utley Foundation and ILC-UK to explore the existing use of music in dementia care, and collating the wide-ranging evidence for its benefits, including using music to tackle anxiety, depression and stress in people living with dementia.

  • Conference Participation: World Congress of Music Therapy (Japan) 2017

    We attended the World Congress of Music Therapy in Japan where Alexia Quin presented a paper exploring how music therapists who have led international skill-sharing projects have been inspired to undertake a series of pilot projects in the UK, supporting and enhancing care practice for young children, adults with learning disabilities and people living with dementia.

  • University guest lecture 2017

    United Kingdom

    Guest lecture to students on the Masters in Music Therapy course at the University of Roehampton, with a focus on skill-sharing as a technique for music therapists to extend the reach of their work and responsible international development practice.

    We enlisted the help of our UK Partners who participated in projects within our “Bringing it all back Home” initiative to co-create a short film showcasing the impact and potential of the training projects for people offering care and activities to people across the lifespan within our UK Programme.
