We began working in Kenya in 2025, responding to a request from a school in Mombasa to support their educators introduce music for primary aged children.

Almost 40% of the population of Kenya live in poverty, and although primary education is free in the country, there are often other costs for parents to send their children to school, such as enrolment fees and school materials. This can prove a challenge for many families; poverty is the biggest obstacle to gaining access to education. As comparable training is not available locally, our focus in Kenya is to respond to requests for introductory training in the therapeutic use of music and support those who participate in our projects to embed music into their care practice.
